CCR&R’s (Child Care Resource and Referral) mission is to provide help and materials to assist parents, child care providers and teacher in preparing all children for a successful future, in school as well as in life in general. CCR&R offers services to help improve the quality and accessibility of child care in Wilson County. CCR&R provides technical assistance to child care facilities that help them to maintain and increase their NC Star Ratings. Technical assistance includes helping child care facilities with room arrangements, assessing teacher and child interactions, and providing child care staff consultations and provides workshops and trainings as required by DCDEE. The technical assistance is provided either on site at the facilities, via telephone or within the Wilson County partnership office. CCR&R also provides parenting workshops vie referrals from our local Department of Social Services Office. CCR&R provides basic information for opening a child care facility in Wilson County to persons who are interested in opening a new child care facility, either center of family child care homes. Potential new facility owners will receive a packet of information and flyers to help them get started.
CCR&R helps to build community partnerships that focus on early childhood development, and a support system within the community. CCR&R is the originator of the Kids on The Lawn Festival which is offered each year during the National Week of The Young Child to bring attention to the importance our children are to our future. CCR&R sponsors a Lending Library which is located in our office. The lending library offers services, books, toys, and teacher materials to members. For more details about the lending library, including how to join, please find the lending library section on our website.
I would like to take the time to thank our Wilson County Partnership, and in particular Mary Artis. They have been instrumental in helping me make the transition from Teacher to Director a successful one. Some ways they have helped us:
- Accumulating our In-Service hours
- Easy access for borrowing items for a specific unit
- Going out of her way to help me earn a “Quality Point”
- Endless calls throughout the school year for licensing requirement questions and advice
- Assistance with the application for upcoming Ecers Assessment
- Because of the locality, we can sometimes request a “house call”
- Often times, it is far easier to get in touch with Mary for help than it is for me to speak with my consultant
In short, when someone/something is local and familiar to you… when someone calls you by name or asks about your coworkers…when they see that you may have lost a star and asks how they can help you get it back…these are people you want to work with. You know you can trust them. I depend on these people. Thank You Wilson County Partnership!!
